Low-Emission Zone Ghent (Belgium)

Ghent (Flemish Region):
The city centre of Ghent is a low emission zone. Only cars with registred licence plate are allowed to enter the area. The entry conditions are based on the vehicle type and its EURO norm. In exceptional cases, the daily pass is offered. As an alternative, there are free P + R options available to reach the city center.

notes:

  • the LEZ is controled by camera system connected to different databases to check the EURO standards
  • foreign vehicles have to register to enter the LEZ, the day-passes can be bought online or in the local terminals
  • the penalty for enetring the LEZ without registration is subject to an administrative fine of €150 per violation
  • the day-pass can be purchased in advance on the following day of enetering the LEZ (max. 24h after entering the LEZ)
  • the legal framework for LEZs is based on Decree 27/11/15 and Gov. decisions of 26/2/2016 and 31/3/2017
