Low-Emission Zone Edinburgh (Great Britain)

Edinburgh (Scotland):
Edinburgh City Council has introduced a Low Emission Zone in May 2022. The aim of the LEZ is to improve air quality in the city centre. Drivers have 2 years to meet the zone's standards. After 30 May 2024, the registered keeper of a vehicle that does not meet the exhaust emission standards will be liable to a penalty charge if the vehicle is driven within the Dundee LEZ.

• the LEZ area will be monitored by Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras (ANPR)
• the enforcement of the LEZ will start on 1 June 2024
• the LEZ restrictions apply also to foreign vehicles
• Only cars that meet or exceed the vehicle emission criteria are permitted to operate inside the LEZ
• The initial penalty charge is set at £60.
